He was Lord Deputy of Calais from 1520 to 1526 and then again from 1531 to 1533. This portrait was probably painted during Bourchier's first stay in Calais, probably by a Flemish artist.</dc:description> <dc:description>This portrait was purchased by the Gallery in 1973.
